John Denver, a singer-songwriter of Colorado who was a specialist in folk pop music has touched the hearts of millions. He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico he fell in affection with Colorado and eventually moved to Aspen. Denver's anthems of fame about Colorado have inspired many people to relocate to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame declared the following: John Denver is the only musician to truly embody Colorado. Denver was the Hall of Fame's inaugural inductee was recognized with this honor in 2011. Many consider Denver to be the symbol of Colorado. Certainly in my travels you meet someone from the other end of the planet, one of New Zealand and you say "I'm originally from Colorado and the very first thing that comes that comes out of their mouths is Oh John Denver! Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads, co-written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief time as a folk musician, was Denver's debut Top 10 solo hit. Danoff used Johnny Cash as the inspiration for the tune, however Denver discovered that it was destined to turn into a hit once the song was first heard by him. The song was recorded just two weeks following it was performed in Washington D.C. performance.
